Picked up a random poetry book From the crowded shelf. Quick easy hour read: Delight and wonder. Then, Found…
Setting Sun Reflection
I watch as the lilac tipped daisies
Curl up for the night;
A process as slow as the sloth
Reaching for its dinner.
The sun has moved down
Behind the leafy cherry trees,
No longer touching blossoms
With its life-giving light.
Oxygenated daily fix,
Like visiting a salt bath
For renewed skin vitality.
All-day long the sun and I
Worked at different paths:
The sun ever responsible for its
Daily regime,
To light the world and provide warmth,
A father bear heating his cub during winter’s nap;
While me,
I let my own mental daggers get in the way.
Once again,
Another day is leaving
And I have spent it wearily,
Clutched by anxiety’s strong grip.
Despondent as a teacher
Learning about more budget cuts,
An actor finding out she is
Not needed for another season;
The squirrel who races to locate
The aromatic smell of freshly fallen chestnuts,
Only to arrive to find other squirrels
Beat him to the best ones.
How do you keep looking for strength,
When you don’t even know
If you want to sit inside or out,
On the sofa, or on a chair at the sturdy table?
A lonely mind in the chaos of an
Unseen internal battle
Facing one’s most paralyzing inabilities.
The sun lays down in the west,
Every night.
With the dawn, it returns,
Rising again in the east
As will I rise to try again
For I am a woman of faith
Hanging onto hope
For strength,
For creativity,
For victory.
I wish I could be this woman all of the time.
So, true. You way of using words to express a feeling so many have . Thank you for sharing ❤
It took me a long time to put all these words together to describe this sentiment.
I am enjoying the challenge of finding the words. I appreciate your feedback!
