Easter During a Pandemic Part 2
Easter today instead is…
Wake up leisurely, naturally.
No need to dress formally;
No need to drive anywhere.Â
Instead, a gift of solitude awaits us.
First time virtual Easter worship services:Â
Along with a million other God’s children;
Church at home, yet still shareÂ
Holy reminders of Christ’s sacrifice.Â
In a time of uncertainty, just like that first Easter,Â
Ground ourselves as the Body of Christ;
Permit ourselves to change traditions;
Ready for a new normal amidst disrupting days.Â
Virtual conversations make a family first:Â
Face Timing family instead of gathering in one space. Â
Sit together with daughters, sons, husbands, wives around a screen.Â
Chat together; share joyful laughs, andÂ
Precious long-awaited time together.Â
Each of us separate to our own quiet space;Â
Filled with a conjoined hope for what the day means.
For every day’s blessings,Â
No matter how abnormal we find our days,Â
No matter the chaos, weirdness, fear we face,Â
We each look to our Lord as we
Trust in the tiny seed to grow,Â
Never knowing what will arise.Â
We move forward in faith;
Reflective and hopeful;
Staying home as told;
Tested while growing stronger.Â
Wherever you are,Â
whatever you do,Â
Know that you are only a text or a video chatÂ
Away from a friend.Â
Reach out and connect;
We are still a community forever.
If you did not find any spiritual enlightenment, or friendships, online today, I encourage you to do a Google search for a church service (even one perhaps in a different denomination) and/or a link to people sharing their own music. Despite the bad news coming from this pandemic, a lot of good is being shared too!
