Picked up a random poetry book From the crowded shelf. Quick easy hour read: Delight and wonder. Then, Found…
Earth Day During a Pandemic
Today is Earth Day.
I sit outside listening to
Doves cooing to each other,
Amidst the fresh spring air;
Yellow tulips, green and ice blue jack frost,
Sprouting dogwood bushes,
Fuschia and lavender creeping thyme,
Periwinkle starlets dotting the sidewalk.
I wonder about the Earth,
Now that there is a Pandemic.
I hear Venice has clear waters;
Himalayas are visible after 30 years,
Hidden from sight.
Icelandic Forest Rangers suggest
We should hug trees since
We can’t hug each other.
BBC Earth offers hours of nature sounds to
Boost our moods.
Walk outside my friends.
Despite dreary isolation,
Gripping depression,
Frenzied anxiety,
I walk outside and breathe in deeply
Fresh air.
Renewed and transformed,
Ready to tackle to-dos once again.
Protect our Earth.
Protect yourself.
